9:35 pm - Alan's 26th Birthday
Sunday was Alan's birthday, and this is the second birthday I was able to spend with him. Saturday, we went to Smokin' Al's, a BBQ place in LI, to have dinner with Lauren, and we hung out at Connie's new house with his other friends afterwards. The Sunday of his actual birthday, his parents made dinner, and we had dinner with his parents, his older brother, and his brother's girlfriend. It was a nice weekend, and I got him contacts, and a weight bench for his birthday.

It was also the first time Alan got contacts, so I got to be there to support him through his contact tutorial. Thankfully, they let us still get the discount, even though he had astigmatism. It did take a while though, because he had to get his exam, and then the tutorial, and then they made us walk around the store for ten minutes for some odd reason, but I was happy I could be there for him.

Tomorrow is my birthday... I'll be 28... Two years from 30 :-P It definitely makes me reassess my life, and see if I'm actually heading in a good direction, or if I'm staying stagnant. Looking back on the past year, I definitely think I've been stagnant. I'm already starting to change things with my weight loss, but I definitely need to push forward. I am DEFINITELY going to put a helluva lot more into studying for the CPA exam, and I am definitely going to save more. With the economy being like it is, it definitely wouldn't hurt to have a good amount of money saved up. Hopefully, 28 will be a lucky number for me...

6:09 pm - Jollibee Opening and Valentine's Day 2009
OK, you don't understand. I have wanted to go to Jollibee ever since I learned about it in Marketing class in college. Jollibee is a Filipino fast food chain that rose in popularity pretty quickly, and spread to other parts of Asia, and even has locations in California and Nevada. I thought it was pretty cool to see a fast food chain from an Asian country gain enough popularity to cross over to the United States. When I saw a poster on a boarded up piece of property near my house that it will be coming to Woodside, I was ecstatic. So when I found out, through Facebook, that they will be opening up on Saturday, Friday 14, 2009, I had to go. I woke up at 6am, just to get there at 7am with my sis, when they'd be opening, and there was already a line going around the place.I had brought my camera because I wanted to take pics of the mascot, and when I got there, I found out I wasn't the only one. Almost everyone had a camera, and some were even taking video of the place, and the line. We waited an hour to be finally let in, and I got the spicy Chickenjoy, which is awesome. Jollibee has become my new fave place to get fast food fried chicken. It's so flavorful, not just spicy, and they serve rice and gravy with it, how could you not love that? Pics are on Facebook, and yes, I did get a pic with the mascot :-P I even got a plushie of the mascot, and it sings the Jollibee theme song. No, I cannot understand it :-P The funny thing about the whole thing is, that when we were standing there with the crowd, which was pretty much all Filipinos, no one figured out my sis and I were not :-P A couple of people even spoke to me in Tagalog, which was futile :-P

Valentine's day was pretty good. I had to rush home from work to get ready, and Alan's flowers were waiting for me when I got home. He got me multi-colored roses, in a polka dotted vase that said "love" on one of the polka dots. They were very pretty, and a much welcome change from the standard red roses everyone gets on Valentine's day. Alan arrived, and I gave him his presents, which were a gorilla plushie with boxers, holding a heart pillow that says "kiss" on it, a card, and computer speakers (which he desperately needed.) After the opening of the presents, and the picture taking, which are up on Facebook, we went to dinner. Alan took me to a restaurant that his coworkers suggested, called Houston's near 53rd and Lexington. It had a nice, cozy atmosphere, with their dim lighting, and their live jazz band, and the food was really good. My one regret was not getting the veggie burger that Alan got, because it was REALLY good, and I don't think I'll ever find a veggie burger that I'll like as much as that one :-P I ordered a NY Strip Steak, and a loaded baked potato, which was also pretty good, and we had this spinach artichoke dip as a an appetizer, which was also really good. Afterwards, we went to pic up my sis chicken rice from the Halal guys on 53rd and 6th, and headed back home, where I had chocolate covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us. The next day, Alan and I just chilled at my house, and it was nice. I wish we had more time to spend together, but that can't be helped. Ugh, now it's back to work, since I don't get any Federal holidays off, until Memorial day :-P

11:53 pm - A good weekend
It was a pretty good weekend, even though I fell off the diet wagon, hard. Friday night was a girls only outing I planned. The girls consisted of my sis, Leilani, Yi, Cindy, and Gabrielle. First, we met up at this restaurant in West Village called La Palapa Cocina Mexicana which was pretty good. I loved the guacamole, the sangria, the frozen mango margaritas, and my steak dinner. All in all, very good, even if it was pretty pricey. I got tipsy fast though seeing I was starving when I got there, and I did a little drinking before I did any real eating. Then we went to this bar/lounge called The Park where we did more dancing than drinking. Thank you, pricey drinks! It was fun to dance, and chill out with just the girls. I don't get to do that often. Of course, just like in any bar, there were the creepy guys that pop out of nowhere, and don't take no for an answer. That was quickly dealt with it. Other than that, there were these three dorky guys that hit on me, but at least they weren't creepy, so I rejected them more nicely than the creep :-P Cindy, Gabrielle, and my sis also got approached by some guys, but seeing that Cindy, and Gabrielle are taken, nothing happened there, and my sis didn't really like the guy after she started talking to him, so no meaningful connections happened that night :-P It's kind of funny because the person I originally set this up for to help her meet guys didn't seem to have any luck at all, poor thing :-\ We left the place at 2am, got chicken rice at 53rd and 6th, and took a cab back to my house, where we met up with Jimmy and Aaron, and Aaron drove Jimmy, Cindy, and Yi home. I finally got to go to bed around 4:30am! It was fun, but whew, think I'm getting a little too old for partying all night :-P

Saturday, I met up with Alan, and we hung out in LI. We were originally going to go to Smokin' Al's for dinner but the wait time was an hour and a half, and we wanted to see a movie around that time, so we ended up going to this diner called Spartan Diner instead. It was actually really good, and decently priced. I got the beef brisket sandwich with cheddar cheese, and it came with fries, soup, and salad for $10.95! Our whole bill, which included two desserts was $30. Afterwards, we went to the movie theatre, and Alan won me a cute little stuffed panda, which I named Oreo. We watched The Spirit, which was good, but not as good as people claimed it to be. I thought they tried too hard to be funny, it seemed like every other line was a joke, and I don't know, it just didn't really click with me. I liked Sin City a lot better. Afterwards, we just came back to Alan's house, and relaxed, which was fine with me, because after my crazy late night out the night before, I think I was just looking forward to having some rest.

Today we went to Five Guys burgers (yummy) and went to Best Buy, and Radio Shack because Alan was looking for something for his computer, and then he took me to this indoor flea market. It brought me back to memories of when I was little, and I used to go to them with my parents, before my sister was born. The first floor was the typical stands you'd find in a flea market. I found a lady who made those crystal cell phone charms, and I bought a golden reindeer charm. It's so cute ^_^ The second floor was filled with collectibles, like comics, trading cards, etc. The third floor though was this big jewelry exchange, which was just a bunch of jewelry stores. We were looking through the stuff, there were a lot of pretty things, but it was just too expensive for me. I don't have the kind of money where I can just buy jewelry casually like that ;_; Then we met up with Alan's friend for a bit, and then he dropped me off at the train station afterwards. I went to Peking BBQ (also yummy) to pick up some food, and I brought it home to eat. My sis and I were watching Planet Earth for a bit, and then we just hung out. I was putzing around my computer for a bit, and then Alan called to say goodnight, and now I'm updating my lj. Exciting, I know. But apparently people are interested in reading about what I do, so I write :-P

10:29 pm - It's starting to feel a little more real...
Now that I fully paid for our cruise, and our flight tickets, the cruise, and the two days I'm staying in Amsterdam with Alan seems more real. I'm really excited, but really apprehensive as well, I keep feeling like I'm going to forget something important, or something will go horribly wrong. This will be the first trip I'm taking to Europe, and it'll be with Alan, not my parents who usually do everything for me. Hell, this is the first time I arranged all the travel plans myself. Even with Puerto Rico, my friends arranged everything, I just paid my share. I think I'll be more excited the closer to the date we leave (assuming I survive tax season) but for now, all I feel is worried :-(

10:16 pm - New Year's Weekend and 2009 Resolutions
New Year's weekend was pretty good! A lot happened.

New Year's Eve was also my 1 year anniversary with Alan, so we went to Ninja, a restaurant downtown, for dinner. Since I was getting Friday off, we weren't getting out early New Year's Eve, so I wore my dress to work. Alan met me after work because he got out early, and we went for an early dinner. It was SO COLD that night, and I was wearing a thin dress, so I was freezing. The restaurant was ninja-themed, so the staff was dressed up as ninjas, and they pop up and try to scare you, repeatedly. I think I cried out like 5 times or so during the course of the evening. We had a 5-course meal, there are pics on Facebook, it was massive. I have never been so stuffed. It was a lot of fun, and our waiter was very entertaining, so we had a good time. Afterwards, we came back to my house, and I gave him my present to him, which was a briefcase from Kenneth Cole. He gave me my present earlier, but we took pics of stuff together. He got me a beautiful gold and diamond heart shaped necklace, it's so pretty :-) Afterwards, we just hung out on my couch, and watched the ball drop on my TV. It was nice and relaxing, and I was with Alan, so it was a perfect night :-)

New Year's day we went out to eat with my family at the Korean BBQ buffet place in Flushing called Picnic Garden. We haven't been there in a while so we enjoyed it greatly :-) Oh my God, there was so much food though, mmm, spicy pork.... Afterwards, we just hung out my house until he had to go home. Friday, I got my hair cut, and went to St. Marks with my sis. We ate at Paul's and to Pomme Frites for fries. It was soooo good, I miss it ;_; We also got these cute hats, I've been looking for them for a while.

Saturday we went to Woodbury Commons for shopping!!! Alan came over early so we could leave at 9am. We got some breakfast at Dunkin Donuts, and were on our merry way. We managed to get there by 10:30, and we bought lots of stuff (personally, I bought too much, but I don't plan on buying anything else, anytime soon.) My sis and I got bags at Longchamp, and I got a purse for my mom at Coach, and a purse and a wallet for myself. I also got some clothes from bebe, Tommy Hilfiger, and Banana Republic. My sis also got a bag from French Connection, chocolate from Godica, and MAC cosmetics. Alan got some clothes at the Ecko store, and new sneakers from Reebok. Aaron, Cindy, Yi, and Lawrence joined us later for lunch, and we shopped and hung out for a bit. Yi got a anklet, and Cindy got a purse at Coach. We all left around 7pm, and when we got back to the neighborhood, we got take out from Pio Pio, and stuffed our face when we got home :-P Needless to say, I need to go back to the diet tomorrow.

And now, resolutions for 2009!

1) Lose weight. I'm already getting off to a good start (except for this weekend) but I'd like to lose a lot more.

2) Save money. I DEFINITELY need to work on that. From now on, I'll try to be more frugal.

3) Learn better study habits. I definitely need to work on my study habits. My recent failures have proven that.

4)Spend more time with my friends. I've been MIA for too long. I'll try and make an effort to hang out with my friends more, instead of holing up in private with Alan.

5)Learn to cook! There's a saying. If you love to eat, you better learn to cook. I think it's long overdue.

Overall though, I'm pretty happy with my life. Yeah, I'd love to be thinner, and have my own place, but otherwise, I'm pretty happy :-)

9:36 pm - Christmas 2008
Christmas 2008 just may be the best one yet. Christmas eve was spent looking for a supermarket that was open with my sis, so we could bake cinnamon buns for Christmas with the new mixer I got her. We decided to prep them as well, so all we would have to do was toss them in the oven and frost them the next day. OMG! Such a pain! It was our first time baking with yeast, and all the stuff needed to be done was such a hassle. Good thing those buns turned out to be super yummy! We opened the rest of our presents (pics can be seen on Facebook) which included, for me at least, a Coach bag, ATHF Season 6 on DVD, and a Swarovski crystal bracelet from my parents. Then I was off to LI to spend the rest of Christmas with Alan and his family. My parents made dadar gulung to bring there for dessert, which is an Indonesian pastry. His family was very nice, and I had a good time, and there was so much food, I was stuffed. I also got to meet his aunt who lives in Florida, who was visiting for the holidays. It was really nice, this was the first time someone I dated ever invited me to spend a big holiday with them. My friends and family teased me about them being my future in-laws but whatever, I still thought it was nice :-P They gave me some Christmas ornaments, candy, a sweater, and Alan gave me a pair of beautiful gold and diamond hoop earrings that he picked out himself :-) Alan even got presents for my family. He got my mom a turtleneck sweater, a sweater vest for my dad, and a gift card to MAC cosmetics for my sis. His parents even gave my parents a present, which surprised them, a box of fancy cookies. My parents gave him a nice scarf, which he actually ended up needing. Who knew? I didn't :-P

The next day was spent hanging out with friends. First I went to see Bedtime Stories (not our first choice but whatever) with Alan, Mita, Yi, and Leilani. Even though I'm not a fan of Adam Sandler, it still turned out to be an OK movie. Then we just hung out and played Guitar Hero World Tour until Claire, Cindy, John, and Aaron arrived, and we went to Jackson Diner, an Indian restaurant near my house. The food was yummy, but Mita and Claire had to bounce afterward. Claire got me a beautiful necklace (I have to give you your present the next time I see you,) it's even pink :-) Aaron and Cindy got me a gift card to Urban Outfitters, which I also love, because it allowed me to get the jacket I've been wanting for almost a month now. The rest of the group came back to my house to play Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but eventually, it got pretty late, and everyone went home, except for Alan who slept over in my room, while I slept over in my sis' room, because we were going out for dim sum the next morning. It was good to see them this weekend, and I'll see them again next weekend for our Woodbury trip! Yay! Outlet shopping!!! It should be fun, here's hoping :-P

It was Alan's first time having dim sum, and he even tried chicken feet, though he wasn't a fan. I think he liked dim sum overall, but it didn't really fill him up because it was a lot of little things. Also, I think he felt self-conscious because he was one of the very few non-Asian people in the restaurant :-P Then we took him to NY Supermarket where he got Chinese coffee for the first time, and my mom picked out some pastries at the Chinese bakery to take back home for his family. We spent some time hanging out in my house before he had to drive home. He had to leave earlier than usual to meet up with his family for dinner, and he probably wanted to play the Left 4 Dead game I got him for Christmas :-P

Today is my dad's birthday, and we went to his favorite restaurant in the whole world for lunch. The Sizzler. However, we didn't go there as early as he would like because first he had to take my mom into Manhattan to get some costume jewelry watches for her sister. There's this place on 28th street, near the McDonald's near there called Picasso Jewelers. They have some pretty nice, and inexpensive costume jewelry. I highly recommend going there. I managed to pick up 4 necklaces today. Afterwards, we went to the Sizzler, but it was not a happy occasion, seeing our waitress tried to bust us for ordering the senior meal when she thought weren't eligible. She really was giving us a hard time, I kept telling her that my parents were the ones who ordered the senior meal, not me and my sis, and then she backed off when she realized that the woman across from us was our MOM and not our SISTER :-P And then my dad came to the table, and no one can really accuse him of being younger than 60 :-P You would think, after making such a mistake, she would be kissing our ass, but instead she gave us really crappy service, she was barely around. She even gave us our dessert plates with the check! I was so pissed off that I gave her a crappy tip, my mom told her not to give a tip at all, but I'm not that mean :-P Then we went to the mall to spend our respective gift cards, I got my jacket (yay) and my sis spent some of the money on the gift card to MAC Alan gave her for Christmas on some fancy moisturizer. I have to admit, it does make your skin look nicer, it gave it a glow, but I don't think it would look good on me seeing I already have a glow. It's called an oily complexion :-P Then my sis and I went to see Marley & Me. It was good, even though some parts of it was really slow, and felt like it was dragging on, but the ending was so sad. My sis and I were crying our eyes out.

All in all, it was a good weekend, and I had a good time. Now it's back to work. Ugh :-(

11:26 am - Soliciting advice
Alan and I will be going on a cruise that goes to Canada and Europe, which will drop us off in the Netherlands, in which will we be staying two days in Amsterdam, before going back to NYC. I am trying to figure out which is better, a hotel in the city, or a hotel near the airport. So far, the overall consensus seems to be in the city itself, but I'd love to hear more opinions before I make my final decision. Also, Alan's job can allow him to be a member of an organization that gets them discounted theatre tickets, and he asked me what shows I want to see, but to be perfectly honest, the only thing I have seen was Rent! Could anyone give me any suggestions on what would be good for us to see?

1:53 pm - Trying to break the habit
I've been dieting, and I actually have been doing pretty well.. Up until I went to Outback yesterday, and basically undid most of the work I've been doing for the past few weeks or so. It's pretty frustrating, but even more so, because it's something I do way too often. I start making really good progress, and I mess up big time, setting myself way back, and then, feeling like a failure, I quit altogether. This may seem like a lame goal, but I promised myself that I would not eat Outback OR White Castle until after the 31st. Outback is easy enough, but anyone who knows me well enough know that I go to White Castle AT LEAST once a week. So not eating White Castle until after the 31st will be tricky, but hopefully, if I can accomplish that, I will be less dependent on food.

Here's hoping.

11:10 pm - Thanksgiving And Black Friday 2008
This Thanksgiving, it was a small affair. It was just immediate family, and Alan :-) It was nice having Alan over for Thanksgiving, I don't think I ever had a friend, much less a boyfriend come over :-) Also, we had the chicken my dad always makes for Thanksgiving :-) So yummy!! After Alan left to attend his own family's Thanksgiving, I just chilled out with my family at home. Today was Black Friday, so my sis and I got up early, like 5:30, to get to Best Buy and Target, and try our luck to grabbing some good deals. We ended up with a huge haul, including a DVD player, a mixer with a bowl attachment, some clothes from H&M, a Coach wristlet for Leilani, and I got a present for myself, which I'm not letting myself open until Christmas. Oh, and I got myself Guitar Hero World Tour to reward myself for standing on that huge ass line for 1.5 hours :-P We also got some breakfast at White Castle, which is also what we did last year. I love Black Friday :-) We came home to take a brief nap, and Leilani joined us for round 2. We went to Forest Hills, to look through Barnes & Noble, and Sephora, where I got Cindy something, and then we went back to the house to put our purchases in the house, and so Mita can drive us to Best Buy and Old Navy, where we got a small 4-cup coffee maker, and an HDMI cable for the DVD player. Also, we got some DVDs that were marked down, and lots of clothes from Old Navy :-P We didn't get home until almost 10pm, so we've been basically shopping all day! So far, it's been a pretty good Thanksgiving holiday, and with seeing Alan all weekend, it's about to get even better :-)

9:21 pm - A Very, Very Bad Day
So, today was my test. Guess what happened. I got REALLY sick, to the point where I was wavering in and out of consciousness during my exam, and even had to take a break in the middle because I thought I was going to throw up right all over my computer. Afterwards, I went to work, and checked my score for the last exam I took, which I studied my ass off for, and failed. Needless to say, I just broke down and cried, I was so damn frustrated. I still felt like crap but I pushed myself through work, and right before I left work, I found out a friend of mine recently got laid off. He really didn't deserve it, he REALLY worked hard for his job, he barely had any free time, and to be cut off like that is so unfair. Then I went home, and found out a family friend is dying of liver cancer. Like I said, a very bad day... And now it's raining.... My problems are NOTHING compared to the last two people... My friend needs the money, and my family friend is young, only in his 30s, and engaged to be married... Sometimes, life doesn't seem very fair...

11:23 am - Happy Birthday Aaron!!
I find it amusing that my iPod lands on Chic N Stu from System of a Down this morning when I put it on shuffle, seeing the last time I heard it, it was when Aaron was singing it. Happy birthday, Aaron! You're REALLY getting old now :-P

Oh, if you have XBox Live, I would suggest going on community games, and buying Snake 360!!! It should come out around Wednesday, or so. It is surprisingly fun, so give it a shot, and if you are already a fan of the Snake games, then trust me, you won't be disappointed. Tons of challenging levels, and if you just know Aaron, well, wouldn't you at least want to buy it out of curiosity? All in all, you won't be disappointed :-)

1:24 pm - I'm finally stitch free!
The last of my stitches FINALLY came out of my mouth last night!!! YES!! I can yawn without pain! I can kiss without feeling self-consious that they might brush up against my stitches! I can eat without worrying about food getting stuck to them! I'm free!!!

In other news, I've been studying for my exam. I still have a LOT more to do, but I'm hoping to get the bulk of it done this week. Here's hoping.

Other than that, my sister turned 21 this Saturday. The family, Alan, and I went to Red Lobster for dinner the night before to help celebrate her birthday, because she was going to be going out for dinner, and barhopping with her friends on her actual birthday the next day. The next day, the family had lunch with my sis at SriPraPhai but I dunno, now that I've had other Thai restaurants, it's not as impressive to me as it once was. I still like Spicy Shallot, and Chao Thai a lot better. Later, Alan and I went to see Max Payne. It was ok, as long as you tried not to put too much thought into what you were watching. Lots of CG and people dying. It's ok, because I had barely any sleep the night before, especially since I had to wake up to go to the dentist that morning, so I doubt I could have done much thinking, even if I wanted to. It was also part of the reason why I opted not to go with my sis and her friends. Also, I feel kinda old around them. Isn't that sad? :-P

The next day, I got some more studying done, and my sis and I went to the mall for a short bit, where I went crazy in American Eagle, and bought three sweaters, and a pair of jeans. I also bought some makeup from MAC. I think I went more crazy on the eating, rather than the spending this weekend :-P

8:51 pm - My first trip to the dentist in 15 years...
... And I got my impacted wisdom tooth out! It was actually growing SIDEWAYS! I was lucky to not have to work this Saturday after all. Even better, I had Alan taking care of me all weekend :-)

Now if I can get through a week where I work half of it doing overtime, and most of it with only eating semi-solid food...

1:25 pm - My chicken philly is spicy...
It never was spicy before... And it's frozen food so it's not like someone new prepared it... Should I be worried? :-P

In other words, we are working overtime at my job this week to try and tackle the rest of the tax returns we have before the deadline. That's all well and good, except I need time to study for my test coming up on the 20th. D'oh! So I'm going to be waking up earlier so I can study before work.. Let's see how long I can go before burning myself out completely :-P
